James Adams

Program Director, Cherry Cove

"From the beginning, being a part of the Guided Discoveries family has been about more than a job for me. It has been a crucial component to a lifelong pursuit: to inspire others as to the amazing nature of the natural world.  ...I am so excited to have the opportunity to continue to grow alongside my peers while we help countless students on their path to self-discovery while exploring the ocean that laps at their feet."

James began working as a Marine Science Instructor at CIMI Fox Landing 2008 before moving into his current position as Program Director at CIMI Cherry Cove.

As Program Director, James works closely with schools to tailor each program specifically to their students' needs, but what he says is his most paramount responsibility is making sure his staff has the best training, tools and resources they need so they are able to inspire the thousands of children who visit Cherry cove.

His passion for the ocean goes back to his childhood in the Bay Area and was intensified when he learned to surf.  He holds a bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies -- Ecology and Conservation from California State University, East Bay, as well as certifications in lifeguarding and first aid/CPR for the professional rescuer. James is also a Level 3 Kayak Instructor and Naui Rescue Diver.
